I don't think it is American just due to the way the breech is mounted. Ususally American tanks have their breech blocks opening up and down while the Germans and British put theirs in side to side. Also, American turrets usually have the gunner on the right side rather than the left. I can't say for sure though as I have never been in a Sherman turret and my experience in American tanks is post-Vietnam.

I, too, think this is a T-55, maybe a T-62 (not that many differences between those).

It's definitely Russian one. I can recognize commanders periscope TPKU-2B, so my vote goes to T-55.
Some armored vehicles had it too, but you said it's a tank
