Ya know? I went to Steam and was all ready to click <purchase> when I decided to take a quick look at user reviews.
Hmm. There seem to be some problems with it that would likely bother me a lot. To the extent that I decided to hold
off on buying this right away and give it a little time to see if/when they iron out some apparent wrinkles. They don't
look to be major problems.
Over the years I've been trying to curtail my impulse game buying and in this instance it has been a successful.
For how long is another discussion.

Well, they've been working on that title for a while, sad to think that it's "not quite right". Nice job keeping your wallet in your pocket.

It just seems like a dumbed down version of CS.

What's CS? Its not Counter Strike, for sure... :p

I have Lock N Load Digital (Nam) but just too many other things to nibble/play TBH

Nort is very old school. We used to play a lot of Campaign Series. A LOT!!
However, it had a fatal problem. When playing PBM your (or you) could replay indicidual fights until you got the result you wanted. Needless to say it became a HUGE problem when playing tournaments
over on The Blitz. After it became common knowledge the bloom was off the rose and its popularity dropped significantly. This is about the time it lost me too. It wasn't too long until this issue was actually
(mostly) fixed along with other longstanding problems. Nort kept right on playing, and still does. I tried to get back into it, but by then is was old and it just never ran properly on the next MS OS I was using.
I still miss it. It was/is very cool. I'd probably still be playing it too if it ran ok. I'm sure @Nort can fill in some more details.

There was no "fatal" issue with Campaign Series (CS). It is an elegant game. If you liked Avalon Hill's Panzer Leader and PanzerBlitz, this is the game for you. Plain and simple.

"There was no "fatal" issue with Campaign Series..."
I thought the ability to cheat was. At least it was for me at the time. Ending tournament play.
And I recognize that it was eventually addressed and mostly fixed. I mean a player could still cheat, but it could no longer be concealed from the opponent.
And the amount of time we spent playing it was soo much fun. It truly was/is a great game.
It's just not so great now given the difficulty most find in getting it to run.

I completely forgot about this and only rediscovered it about 3-4 days ago.
Soo I bought the bundle and this includes the original game ($19.99 if that's all you want) and the four DLC's
including the newest one "Kursk." Cost for all of those was only $38.92. Also, coming in 4th Q'23 is the VaV DLC
"Pacific", which is exactly what you think it is. Very much looking forward to that one!
Anyway, spent a little time watching some You Tube vids and have a decent tutorial level of how the game is
played. From what I can tell it is extremely easy to learn. While it has been many years since I played "Squad
Leader" this sure looks the closest thing to it that memory serves. Actually, while it looks like it I also think it is
much simpler to play than the board game, not to mention letting the PC do all the mind numbing calculations
the board game forced us to deal with.
Something that is disappointing (for me) is that there is no "campaign" game. What does seem to be a nice substitute
is the string of battles attached to major scenario make it easy to play the main battle as a campaign of sorts. Playing
the individual scenarios in chron order does give the player a sense of campaign playing w/o the RPG effects.
Also, apparently it can be played PvP via pbem, but no idea (yet) the mechanics of that process.
So off to give it a go. Hope it is as much fun as it looks like.
