I'm playing around with doing something different with a Combat Mission video. To do what I want to do I'm looking for some folks who are willing to do some voice acting which I'll then combine with the video.

I'm going to start with a short pilot to see if it works. To partake you need to be able to record your voice, do a little 'acting' such as projecting stress as if under fire, concern, orders etc. I will provide a script which fits with the video action and some written context to help with acting the voice, example below;

Example Context
This is the initial engagement, you and your squad are regulars, rested and cautious. Your squad is under rifle and MP40 fire as they probe forward, they are part of a platoon so you expect fire support. Squad orders need to be spoken/acted at a measured pace to be understood by others under fire and projected, not just shouted

Script
[Order to entire squad which is under fire] - pull back, pull back..... get back to the lane
[Order to the BAR next to you] - REEVES.... put fire on the hedgerow, right of the trees...…... NOW!

You can ad-lib a little as long as its fitting in with the scene. I just need the scripted voices, I'll add effects and audio positioning whilst editing

For the video pilot I need at least 5 American and 3 German speaking actors. Any more volunteers and I will include you but the 5 and 3 is the minimum I need to get this to work and you need to be willing to spend a little time on this. I may need to ask you to re-take some lines to ensure it fits with the video

I don't expect a Tom Hanks performance but the voice clips need to have some emotion to reflect the scene, otherwise my little project won't work, so please be willing to 'act' a little. No experience is necessary, passion and interest will carry the day. Also, please only volunteer if you have the equipment/an idea how you'll provide the voice files. People may be keen to partake, but I don't want to line this all up and then find my star actor doesn't have a microphone . Apologies but the German script will be in English so the German actors will need to translate it to German to act it out, so I guess you'll need to be able to understand English..... which if you're reading this is a moot point o_O

This is your opportunity to be the next Buzz Lightyear and be adored by your other Combat Mission commanders . Shout out on this post if you're interested and let me know which role you want, American or German. Hopefully I can get enough people together to make this work and do something different (y)

EDIT

Oh, I forgot to add, I need the Americans to sound American, so if you've got a thick Aussie accent or sound like a Russian I'm afraid you're out of this particular movie... If it works then there will Commonwealth roles in the future

Roles - American

I'm a pretty good mimic. A wasted talent...until now. :sneaky:

I wonder if my Logitech microphone is good enough. I could borrow one of my son's mics.
What software would be used to record?

If you can sound like an American then great. It needs to sound genuine and when acting, under duress etc., and can’t sound exactly like someone famous or I’ll get issues with YouTube accusing me of using movie vocals.

I can use MP3, WAV and WMA files so most software is useable. The better the clarity and quality the easier it is for me to edit it. I’ll need to adjust left and right ear volumes for positioning, echo, reverb and volumes etc. so it sounds like the vocals are on the battlefield and not being overlaid afterwards. It’s a bit difficult to get it so it sounds realistic. I can’t edit out background noise either, so if it’s done while watching TV or something it won’t work. I can also use a video file such as Bandicam, as long as there is no background game noise. I can separate the visual from the audio.

I figured I’m going to struggle to get the numbers of people needed, so I’m flexible to try and make it easier for people to partake. I’m not being nationalistic, if someone can do multiple voices that are distinct from each other and sound American then great, they can play several roles....

You don't need Klingon, you're American.... Want to try in your native tongue?
Love to try, but hey, I got like a $3 mic. I would sound like I am talking through a string and can phone...

Hey! ;) Honestly there won't be a call for Australian voice actors in a CM video unless we head back to North Africa and then only 1940 - 42.
