Regional update
Fierce fighting persists in the Biombo region of Guinea-Bissau as government and PRS forces fight for control of the region. This week the towns of Mbanza Nyogo & Mabanza Kyete fell to government troops, with fighting continuing to escalate for the settlement of Mensoa in the north.
President Vaz has made it clear; there will be no dialogue with the PRS. In a statement this week he was quoted as saying ‘Guinea-Bissau deserves democratic governance by a party duly chosen but the populace of the country. That party is the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), my party’
In a small back page story printed in the New York Times on Saturday 10th November, ‘The Saudi registered AbQaiq oil tanker was attacked by pirates in the South Atlantic Ocean, approximately 100 miles off the coast of Gambia. The assailants were unable to board the vessel, however the US have reiterated their commitment to securing the safe passage of ships in the region. The tanker has a capacity of 550,000 DWT (Dead Weight Tonnage) and was believed to be in transit to Europe.’
Situational update
NASOE R&A stationed at Bissau is gaining momentum with intelligence gathering. The files secured by Septic on the 9th Nov coo-borate information that a senior member of the PRS, with potential links to a high echelon organisation within the PRS command, was stationed at a small installation in the south eastern part of the Biombo region. With Gabu falling and the subsequent rapid withdrawal of PRS forces, NASOE R&A believes the PRS commander may be isolated at the location.
Mission brief
Osprey is authorised to use deadly force to secure their objective. Collatoral damage is to be kept to a minimum.
There are antiquated military compounds at the east and west ends of the village of Quinhamel. The HVT is believed to be at one of these compounds. There is expected to be a reasonably large defensive force in place around the village.
Osprey is to transit from location Yankee via RIB, using the Mikindani Bay waterway. Safe distance for disembark is at the discretion of the team. In an attempt to mitigate the number of men expected to be defending Quinhamel the grab will be a night time operation. Osprey will operate using civilian clothing to limit association with their PMC cover. The team will utilise NVG and have secured suppressors for certain weapons.
The town is an active civilian settlement with electric street lighting. As the PRS force is expected to be poorly equipped take every step to operate under cover of night, destroying any artificial light sources where possible.
Sunrise is at approx. 5:15.
Primary extract for the HVT will be a local helicopter which will be on station for call in by Osprey. Secondary extract will be by truck at the village of Nhalehengue.
Sound off if you can make it and what slot you want.
