AAR homage to Rico' Cross of Iron campaign

(I accidentally posted this in the modern CM2 forum earlier today, but thought this would be the more appropriate location!)

A few months back a number of us FGMers took part in Rico's superb Cross of Iron campaign. I particularly enjoyed the final episode I played, called Blunting the Spear.

Rather than a standard PBEM game, Rico role played the Soviet side which made for a great experience for the German commanders. This particular encounter turned into a huge tank KO fest which I thought would make for a good AAR subject. So as a homage to Rico's campaign I've put together a film of the battle.

I've adopted a different style on this occasion to my usual commentry AARs, and tried to produce something which tells more of a story to reflect the fantastic storyline Rico developed for Cross of Iron.

Enjoy guys!

Hi @Odin,

watched your YouTube video - very intense battle action!

I liked the video - but please allow me some constructive criticism:
From time to time it would be helpful to understand the entire condition/situation somewhat better
if you could give some overview, e.g. by zooming out and showing the situation from
the bird's eye view.

@Mehlsack said this about my videos some time ago and I think he is right about it.
Just a good meant/friendly advice. ;)

@Shorker Glad you liked it. Re zooming out, I wanted a more intense story-telling perspective which you get from first person, which I think zooming out into overheads can detract from. There's a guy called Peiper TJ who inspired the video. He does some great cinematic films using CM. They don't give you much understanding of the tactical situation, but they're intense. Here's one of them:

I do the tactical analysis stuff in the few commentary AARs I've produced, which have overheads etc, might be more your cup of tea

Thank you for the links - I knew these ones already as I'm also watching Combat Mission videos from time to time
with interest. :)

All "directors" do it different and it is good that way. ;)

Hey @Odin , great video ... loved it. BFC should hire you to do a video promo for them! (And @Rico as well of course!)

Personally, I liked the "worm's eye view": I think that, when I play, I spend too long in a high, "map" type view (cheating? Never! :D), and watching the continuous action from ground level or near enough was a timely reminder of how well things work and how good they look (how good you made them look ...)

Next installment please!
