Advice needed on installing CMBN please

Hi fellas. It's been years since I used CMBN. I see that a lot has changed with it.

I've got my ancient original boxed game, and despite 3 computer changes, I've still got my 1.01 and 1.11 patch.

I see that there's also been a 2.12 and 3.11 patch.

What's the procedure for getting it running again, after installing the base game?
Do I need to run the base game at least once before installing a patch?
Do I need to install each patch, or just 3.11?

See below. At the very least you will have to purchase the 3.0 upgrade. When you do this you will dl a one-stop installer including the 3.11 patch. This file will include all content of all modules. So from that point forward if you decided to get MG then you would have all the files and just need to key in your activation code. Say you decided not to get it. You would still be able to play me PBEM if I initiated the game. You just could not access the single player scenarios or campaigns to play by yourself. If I am wrong on this someone please correct me.



7- Older purchases of CM:BN - 1.x and 2.x - have not been updated and remain accessible to those who purchased them. We strongly recommend these users to purchase the 3.0 Upgrade, however, which will replace their game with a 3.0 engine and the simple one-stop full master installer.

Since you already have CMBN base game you really only need to but the MG/Commonwealth bundle along with the vehicle pack. This would run you 85.00 instead of 100.00. After you purchase these you would download the one-stop installer as I described above. You would punch in all your activation codes for CMBN, the 3.0 upgrade, the Commonwealth/MB bundle, and the vehicle pack. So basically one download and a couple codes to punch in. Should work and save you 15.00.

Thanks for the info eniced73, very helpful indeed.

Do you see many games / campaigns going on that use the full addons I wonder.

Very tempting - a magical cloud of dust and moths as I open up my wallet. :confused:

If hurting for cash, like most of us, I would at the very least get the uprade to 3.0 so you can at least play PBEM games with most of us. Later add on the others. Who knows maybe by the time you get around to wanting them BF will have implemented their new system, which means you will not have to buy them as long as you are playing people that already have the content. :)

I've just had to reinstall EVERYTHING from scratch, CMBN 10GB Download made it a LOT easier.

It does make me realise that base game is very nice, BUT the MOD's improve it no end :) I just have to reinstall all the mods now <sigh>
