American Civil War Strategy

Is there a good American Civil War Strategy game out there on the level of say Commander: The Great War that anyone can recommend?

Nothing with too steep a learning curve, but depth of play.

Quite interested in the period at the moment and wouldn't mind trying my hand.

Nothing on the level of CtGW I know about but you may want to have a look at John Tiller's Civil War Campaign games. Lots of scenarios and campaigns coming with every title.

There's Gettysburg Scourge of War http://www.scourgeofwar.com/index.shtml - not a strategy game by tactical. Similar to Combat Mission in real time in ACW period . There is also http://www.ageod.co.uk/ The Blue and the Grey - I've not played it but I've heard good things

I have 'John Tiller's Campaign Games', 'The Blue and the Grey' & 'Gettysburg Scourge of War'. JTCG is probably the closest to what you're looking for. TB&TG is in line with what your looking for, but the learning curve is quite steep (I've only scratched the surface). GSW is a different scale than your looking for, but a good game if you want a tactical feel.

Sweet shot. That song immediately popped into my head when I saw it. Anyway, there's also Ultimate General: Gettysburg. I haven't tried that title yet, but it looks cool: http://www.ultimategeneral.com/

There is also a American Civil War Mod for Napoleon as well, perhaps closer to the correct time frame plus for anyone that cares the graphics are that much sharper
anyway, This is currently on steam (and probably other online platforms)
Developed by the gentleman that devised the Total War Darthmod Mods (AI overhaul, general improvements, turns the Empire and Napoleon into entirely new games) this game I think is one of the best Civil War games currently out there.
Beta gameplay, but man was I hooked when I saw it!
