an unlucky team leader

Hi
I'm starting the test of my custom map against @Combat Wombat and after two minutes of moving in towards the objectives, I order a Panzer to blast a hole in a wall. 115 meters behind, along the hedgerow, a squad is advancing. A shot of my Panzer hits the wall, then this is what happens :

THE SQUAD LEADER DIES.

I asked my opponent, and not a single shot was fired at me ( we couldn't see each other anyway the terrain being a little hilly ). Did any strange casualties happen to you ? I'd like to hear your stories :)

Sometimes "strange" casualties occur to me too. I once had my Battallion Commander killed about 500m behind the frontline where the fighting took place. He was sitting there in a safe place, maybe drinking his cocoa when he died. First I couldn`t find a reason for this. After rewinding and watching the turn several times I recognized that one of my Panthers received a direct hit from an AP-shell which deflected high up in the sky and by chance was falling down right on top of the commanding officer killing him instantly. These are the moments where you just gotta love CM.

Ok, heres one: in the last Duplicate Tournament game vs cargol I had a two man team sitting behind a hedgerow watching over some empty terrain. Suddenly one of them dies.
??? No enemy nearby!!! After rewinding several times I found out that there was an enemy team about 300m away without the slightest chance for LOS. But they were shooting at my team in the church tower. So the shot traveled the 150m and up to the tower, got deflected and dropped exactly on my poor scout...

pfew, looks like I'm not the only one with odd casualties. On top of the horrible tendency for team leaders to get killed quickly of course.

Unbuttoned British Churchill Tank Commanders die from random celebratory gunshots in the air 25miles away... or so it seems to me LOL.

Agree with the comments about tank commanders and halftrack gunners. If they are green and below then yes sitting target but you'd think regular and above would know to get down just that fraction quicker.
