In light of Facman's MWO thread I would like to gauge interest in running a forum campaign of Battletech?
We will run the battles in MegaMek, a free computerized version of the miniatures game and the campaign will be managed in MekHQ.

I would like to run a (pre) Clan Invasion era campaign and it will me the first time I would run a campaign.
The basic rules are free to download at Catalyst Gamelabs' website here.

I'm game, you can count me in. I am unfamiliar with MegaMek though, and would need some familiarization with it before I'd jump into a campaign. Perhaps a small game to begin with?

Trying out MegaMek and showing you around should be no problem. I am a little rusty in this department too, so it'll be good to run a small scenario first.
As for the campaign; what would you be comfortable with: commanding multiple units (possibly up to company/battalion level) or would you prefer just commanding a single unit in a more narrative campaign with other players?

Let's run a small game to get the feel for the play and it's possibilities, before we decide on the size of the campaign. We also might want to wait a bit to see what kind of response your question to the club gets. The number of folks interested would also indicate what size campaign you would run.

Yeah, I know. I was just probing to see how experienced you are with BT in general.
Which rulebooks do you have?

I was just probing to see how experienced you are with BT in general.

I've been playing since the late 80's and have all the rule books and just about every paperback novel they put out, as well as several companies of painted miniature Mechs, a reinforced company of armor and infantry. So I am quite familiar with the genre. I also have a ton of Battletech cards from the game that came out in the late 90's.

Great! You are bound to tech me a thing or two then! :)

I never knew the Mechwarrior computer games actually spawned from the miniatures game; my introduction to the game universe was with Mechwarrior 2.

Only years afterwards I found out about BT and was sold immediately! But unfortunately the game isn't well known here in Holland, so I have never been able to table play against someone else.

MegaMek is a great solution to this and I would live to devise a campaign. Haven't done anything like that before, though.

It seems like there isn't much attention for it here, either... Do you want to try to get together and run a test battle in MegaMek?

We can use Teamspeak, Mumble or Skype for voice.

OK great stuff. I have plenty of days off in the coming there weeks, so it should be find to set something up.
Do you have any suggesties as to which days you are able to take a look with me?
We will have to cater for timezones as I am in the GMT + 1 zone.

I have no experience with Raidcall but I have no problem with taking a look.
Ill post some dates later.
