I am using 2.6.2 because it works... except for chat. I went through a long spell with a previous upgrade that would not work on my system and there was no way to install an older one as I could not find archived versions on GAJ's site.This is for Mac btw
So I am hesitant to install a new version for fear I end up in the same boat. Manually managing PBEM is a major pain in the butt. :)

I'm with you there! Hence the reason I advocate for donating to GAJ's site.
Not being familiar with Macs, can you throw the old version in your trash, and retrieve if the new does not work?
 
I did exactly that last time and for some reason my system would not accept it anymore I am willing to try again if someone has success with a later H2HH Mac version and is running 10.6.8.

However if I do do it, and it goes to pot, can I blame you Facman? It's always better when you got someone to blame isn't it.

Hiya,
I run a Mac and H2HH, if this helps.

I'm now on 10.9 Mavericks; but this is fairly recent, and previous OS versions have run later versions of H2HH very well, and in a stable condition. I now use H2HH 2.9.2 for Macs, and it is very reliable for me, and chat does work with anyone with this later H2HH version.

I'm fairly sure (!) that if you first move your current version to the trash and then load 2.9.2 into "Applications", if you should find any problem with it - tho I don't think you will - you can always reverse them afterwards and put 2.9.2 in the trash and bring your old version back from the trash and it should be no worse for wear.

And you can blame me instead of Facman ....
