Defensive actions in the Rosche region

(Reservists manning PAK T-12's)

Setting:

Situation:

The 10th Motorisierte-Schützen-Regiment (10. MSR) has been rushed forward to seal a dangerous breach left in the wake of recent Soviet offensives. While regrouping, they have been caught off-guard by an unexpected counteroffensive launched by Joint Task Force ‘Rhein’, a multinational NATO formation assembled from remnants of U.S., British, and West German units shattered earlier in the campaign.
This ad hoc brigade-sized force, centered around a hardened American core, has managed to cross the Elbe River and establish pontoon bridges, enabling rapid buildup on the eastern bank. Reconnaissance elements report a growing enemy presence preparing for a push into our sector.

Mission Briefing:

We, the Anti-Tank Platoon of the 3rd Reserve Battalion, 10th Motorisierte-Schützen-Regiment, are ordered to establish a defensive line south of Oetzendorf, overlooking:
  • The main road to Klein Hesebeck
  • The auxiliary route toward Jastorf

Objectives:

  • Delay the Kampfgruppe "Rhein's" advance toward Oetzendorf.
  • Inflict casualties to blunt the assault momentum.

Enemy Forces:

Expect a mixed-composition assault force including:
  • U.S. mechanized infantry with armor support
  • British reconnaissance and fire support assets
  • West German infantry elements
  • Likely use of air support and artillery preparation

Friendly Forces & Support:

  • 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, 10. MSR.
  • Mobile Blocking Units (T-72's, T-55's)

Anti-Tank Assets:

  • MT-12 “Rapira” 100mm anti-tank guns (crew-operated)
  • Ammunition: Stored in two-round boxes, themselves packed into larger crates located in the logistics trucks

Support Assets:

  • AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher
    • May require additional transport effort
  • Battalion-level indirect fire support from dispersed 82mm mortar sections
  • Close air support from:
    • SU-22 fighter-bombers of Jagd bombergeschwader 77 (NVA)
    • Limited sorties by MiG-27 ground attack aircraft from the 237th IBAP (USSR)

Deployment Notes:

  • Sufficient time has been granted for:
    • Entrenching
    • Construction of sandbag positions and earthworks via ACE Fortify
    • Unloading and preparing the MT-12s for action.
  • The trucks are pre-loaded with:
    • Box of Panzerfaust 300's
    • Box of small arms ammunition
    • Crate of MT-12 ammunition
      • 7x boxes of APFSDS
      • 4x boxes of HEAT
      • 3x Boxes of HE
    • Box of Medical supplies

Note:
We are using the TBD mod for the MT-12, which requires manual ammo handling.
Due to this we will need to work as a team to operate the gun, with a gunner, spotter, loader and ammo handlers.
The ammo comes in two round boxes, we need to remove the round from the box and place it close to the breach to load the gun.
We need to move the boxes around when empty to make room and increase efficiency.

(We can't just pile the ammunition behind the gun, the recoil will kick it around if we do so)

The sight is in Russian so i have added an ace interaction to the gun to translate it. But you can also just look at the drop. (APFSDS<HEAT<HE)

Wow, looks amazing! Well done Red, thanks.
Cpl. Concord, loader (or ammo handler), standing by. Oгонь!
Check the beastly barrels on those Rapiras! Looks like they'd drag on the ground while being towed.

I have uploaded the new modlist. Remember to unsubscribe from the 4 RHS mods before updating it to avoid a large size increase.

This is a bit late but here is a quick guide on the MT-12.
Don't know why I bother, none of you read these anyway and Concord can't read in the first place. We really should do a GoFundMe or something and hire a tutor for him.

Let's start with ammo and loading the gun:
Here are the ammo boxes. Two rounds per case. From left to right; Sabot, High Explosive and HEAT.

Rounds in question, same lineup as the boxes.
20250531191055_1.jpg

To take them out of the box first use ACE interaction to open the lid, then use the Take-interaction to pick up a shell. Then place it near the gun.
20250531191621_1.jpg20250531191640_1.jpg

To load the gun you first need to open the breech. You do that by using ACE interaction on the lever on right side of the breechblock housing.
20250531191951_1.jpg

You can now load a shell using ACE interaction on the Load-interaction and then selection a shell. If a shell is close enough to the gun to be loaded it will automatically show up on the list. The breech is automatically closed when a shell is loaded. The gun is now ready to fire.

20250531192110_1.jpg

When the gun is fired, the empty shell casing is ejected and the breech automatically stays open. You can load a new shell straight away.
Don't stand straight behind the gun when it's fired! The ejected shell casing will injure you if it hits you.
20250531192220_1.jpg

If the gun needs to be unloaded you can do that by first using the breech lever to open it and then using the Unload-interaction.

Now the gunner's station.
First you need to open the ports for the sights on the gun shield. There are three of them but only the two on the left need to be open.
If you don't open them, all you see is the back side of the gun shield.
The gun has three sights that you can use, cycle through them using the numpad + and numpad - keys.
20250531191747_1.jpg

First is the direct fire sight. This is the default sight and you'll automatically get this view when you get in to the gunners seat.
The range markings for different rounds are from left to right; Sabot, HE, HEAT.
20250531191835_1.jpg

You can change the range setting using Page Up and Page Down keys.
In this example pic the range is set so Sabot is 2600m, HE is 500m and HEAT is 1100m.
The aimpoint is the intersection of the horizontal and vertical lines.

Next up is the panoramic sight mostly intented for indirect fire. It has slightly lower magnification and slightly wider field of view compared to the direct fire sight.
20250531191838_1.jpg

Last sight is the night vision sight, which has the exact same markings and functionality as the normal direct fire sight.

Luckily I know Cyrillic.
You can actually read what round is in the box without opening it. Pretty good attention to detail.
  • БР - 3БМ-2 - APFSDS (sabot)
  • БК - 3БК-16М - HEAT
  • ОФ - ОФ-12 - HE
