I'm testing out how to set up the Drongos Air Operations and ripping off being inspired by a mission from Shock Force 2 German campaign.
Situation
Early in 2008 Syrian based terrorist organisation launched multiple dirty bomb attacks across Europe. Following this, in summer 2008 US led coalition launches an invasion of Syria. One of the units taking part is the German 10th Panzerdivision.
10.PzD has already broken through the first Syrian lines of defence and are continuing further into the country. We are playing as a squad from the recon battalion.
Mission
We are screening one of the axis of advance. Our main objective is to recon several towns for enemy forces and take out enemy heavy weapons and vehicles using our support assets. It's not a requirement to go in and clear the most of the towns completely, it's good enough that enemy firepower and mobility gets crippled. Though the route between Gorqan and Idak should be cleared which includes the two towns.
Finally Idak is our limit of advance. We are to take that town, dig in and wait for follow up forces/further orders.
Secondary objective is to search for intel in a HQ in the town of Bum straight west of our starting position. Hopefully the retreating Syrians left something useful behind.
Enemy
Enemy forces in the area are survivors from regular army units from the initial fighting at the border possibly supported by local militias/uncons. Recon flights indicate that Dola and Qalander have minor enemy troop presence. Very light AA-cannon fire was also encountered.
Syrian reserve troops are known to be further north of the AO but it's unknown whether they will move south to try and reinforce what troops are still left here or if they will set up defence in the north.
