Defensive operations around Kerch
December, 1941, Kerch Peninsula, USSR
Situation
The German 11th army is racing through Crimea, Sevastopol is under siege and the vital supply hub of Kerch is in danger. Orders from high command are to hold on to the eastern foothold of Crimea at all costs. A small navy contingent is all that is keeping the supply corridor open.
Mission
Bombing raids from the 8th air corps have left our frontline brittle, and our platoon is tasked with setting up defenses further back before the enemy achieves a complete breakthrough. We are to concentrate our defenses around the village of Liikola. We should have some time to prepare defenses, dig trenches and place mines before the Germans punches a hole trough the frontlines. At our rear is a triage area with some light fieldworks that can be used to make a last stand if it comes to that.
(We are expecting an attack from the west, but attacks from the north and south are possible)
Playable units
We can choose from a complete roster of a reinforced 1941 rifle platoon. I have taken the freedom to give the light rifle sections the few SVT-38's remaining.
(We will probably man a rifle section with a sapper and medic from the company detachment.)
