On the website of Polish TVN24, a short report was published on 10 December 2016 about the the casing of a Bombentorpedo that was found near the military airbase of Gdynia-Babie Doly: "Cudowna bron Hitlera" odnaleziona w Gdyni. The report mentions that this 'Wunderwaffe' was recovered by the Fundacja na Rzecz Zaginionych Dziel Sztuki Latebra (Latebra Foundation, 'Latrebra' is Latin for 'hiding place' or 'lair'). It was then transported to the Museum of the Navy in Gdynia. The museum has plans for the Bombentorpedo casing: it will be matched to a rocket engine, which happens to be in the musuem's collection. In the Bombentorpedo (BT) family, the BT1000 was the only one with rocket propulsion. The exhibit will be unique in the world.

The BT-series of weapons were developments of the research institute Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart-Ruit, which could be used against land and sea targets. The number identification behind the BT corresponded to the respective weight. The launching of the explosive devices should be carried out with the help of a specially developed reflex gun sight, the throwing distance being up to 3000 m depending on the approach height. The propulsion was supplied by a solid rocket engine from Rheinmetall.
