After a suberb, if slightly wet birthday (mine if you were wondering!) trip to the Imperial War Museum I treated my self to these -happy birthday me!- heavy-weight beauties!

517p-lL2DAL._SY90_.jpg 51KKhO8r8JL._SY90_.jpg They are brilliant and gorgeous reads. I guess the scale (which is strategic) is too big to help much in CM, but for games like Gary Grigsby and Command ops they are incredible! what I love is their size. They're big, maps each larger than A-4.
The maps are very clear and not cluttered, with loads of infomation, here is Bastone from the European Campaign!

Germans are red (here but blue in Eastern Front Atlas) and blue for the Allies. It all stand out beautifully, unit ID's are very well done as are front lines and lines of attack, finally, because the symbols and texts are in thin fonts the so whole thing is easy to read. I'm PBEMing 'My Honour Is Loyalty' in CM:BN and its amazing to see Operation Godwood in all its detail in the atlas and know its blood stained hedgerows in game!

The Easten front Atlas covers a much larger area and of course much bigger battles but is an awsome read too, I found myself learning a fair bit! (Not hard!) In each atlas along side each map there is a synopis of the battle and an analysis of the factors leading to both the strategic and tactical decisions made and the outcomes. IMG_9753.JPG

In the Atlas of the Easten front ( https://ospreypublishing.com/atlas-of-the-eastern-front-hb) there are 128 maps, in the European Front ( https://ospreypublishing.com/atlas-of-the-european-campaign ) 127. the map list is extensive ....

The paper quality is very good and it comes in a hard slip case. Its a premium product, however and this is the only negative, it comes with a premium price! (Other online retailers or even real bookshops may be cheaper!)

Highly recommened! As is a wet birthday trip to the imperial War Museum with my family!

The IWM is great. The only other museum I've been to that is even close to the same quality is the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul. I went to the Imperial War Museum on a trip to London with my dad back in 2006. I bought this pretty sweet poster. british navy.jpg
Unfortunately I don't know what happened to it. I lost a lot of my old crap when I joined the army.
