Polish President Lech Kaczynski 'in plane crash'

A plane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczynski has crashed near a Russian airport, officials say.

Russian media reported that 87 people were killed in the crash, but it is not yet known if anyone survived.

The plane was reportedly heading to an airport in the western city of Smolensk when it crashed.

Mr Kaczynski was due to visit Smolensk to mark the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre, when Soviet troops killed thousands of Poles.

Very opportune moment for him going down in a plane crash that's killing Russians... Any conspiracy theory fans 'round here? :)
 
A sad day for Poland and Europe.Greek news said that the plane attempted 4 times to land but bad weather conditions made it crash after it collided to some woods which were nearby the airport.
I hope that no conspiracy theories will emerge as its a really serius incident and last thing everybody wants is tension to mount again in a region that suffered so much in the past.

It is great tragedy [;]
They were trying to land in thick fog (just once), airfield in Smolensk have no advanced navigation equipment, they were flying in old Tupolev plane and landscape in front of airfield is dangerous because there is valley and then hill just before landing road and they crashed on that hill. Still we don't know what went wrong but probably that were all this factors and wrong pilot decision to land.
There is absolutely no speculation about conspiracy.
WE all fill great sorrow and Poles highly appreciate help of Russians. ( We always considered Russian nation as brothers but we hated their rulers which were not Russian (Katrina - German, Stalin - Georgian) and they were also so cruel for common Russians.
Just imagine what would happen in your country in face of such a great tragedy.

Lech Walesa, for long a political adversary of the late president, made clear his sense of shock.

"The Soviets killed Polish elites in Katyn 70 years ago. Today, the Polish elite died there while getting ready to pay homage to the Poles killed there," he said



It is deep sorrow now in Poland but we don't blame anyone and we feel solidarity in this sorrow from all world.
It is unique unity with Russians now, we can feel the same, in pain, as we have similar mentality.


Katyn it is cursed land, both for Poles and for Russians
