This impressive info graphic brought to my mind a little statistic I made on the basis of the data base of the German war graves commission some time ago. They provide a searchable database (http://www.volksbund.de/graebersuche.html) with 4.713.070 entries , what inspired me to examine the German death toll per month during WW2.
I choose two of the most common family names to get some kind of sample since you have to enter a name to get results.
Of course this statistic is not a valid, scientific examination but gives you a general view how the fighting in WW2 escalated...
Interesting to see the proportions between several campaigns/years.
