Can anyone give me multiple Red Thunder... PBEMs?

OK with the release of Red Thunder seemingly imminent I'm looking to get 2-3 RT PBEMS started pretty much on release day, or as soon as I can get to a PC thereafter. Bit of a silly question as I think I already know the answer, but does anyone want to commit to a RT PBEM to begin as soon as RT is released? I'd be looking to exchange at least a turn a day on average, and I'm happy for scores to go up on the wargaming ladder (which I'm still to get started on). Plus I noticed Rico is starting an RT campaign, are there spaces left on this or ant other RT campaigns in the works?

I'll also be wanting to make at least one video AAR from my initial PBEM games. Is anyone up for taking part in that, and possibly even producing a video AAR based on their side's perspective?

I shall be downloading RT as soon as it becomes available, and am up for a PBEM game ASAP after that. I can manage at least a turn a day most days, sometimes more.

Never done an AAR, or any video capture. I'm OK to try it out, but will probably need guiding through how to do that aspect (Unless you mean merely include my action from your perspective in your video AAR, in which case that is fine): but if you get another offer for the AAR, I'm happy with just a PBEM game, for the ladder if you like.

I have - I hope! - also already got a game pencilled in with @Strachwitz ...

Hi Phil. Great I'll PM you with my dropbox details. If you're up for trying to create a video AAR detailing your side's perspective I'd happily give you a quick run how I go about recording etc.

There is plenty of software options out there which can be used to record and edit. I use Fraps to capture the videos and Adobe Premier Elelments to edit. Also a microphone is essential if you want to record voice over.

I'd happily offer more assistance if needed. Likewise no skin off my nose if you just want to play a straight forward PBEM without creating a video AAR recording your side's perspective.

PS does anyone know if H2HH will work with RT, or will it need an update?

Ok, great ... our TFGM info panels include our email address (hover mouse cursor over the envelope icon ...), so that will do to set up a dropbox invite?

Good question about H2HH: I'm not sure is the answer. You can direct H2HH to do a game install, and I have done that e.g. to find multiple copies of CMBN to continue games started under older versions as new versions came out.

But I don't know if H2HH will accept an instal of a completely new CM title without being set up by GreenAsJade to be aware of it?

one warning with starting a PBEM so soon is that there is normally a patch out soon after to sort a few bugs ,It might pay to wait for a few weeks

@Odin, @Bidermann is right, based on previous experience there probably will be a patch quite soon: but in the hope that it will be for something that we can live with at first, rather than a fundamental problem that ruins the game, I'm still OK to try a "first thing" PBEM if you are.

FWIW, I get more exercised about things that are accepted as part of the game's current limitations than minor new game bugs: I'm currently playing PBEM Counterattack at Son as the Axis, and it has become a bit like a demented game of "Whack a Mole", as the Allied guys pop up out of their foxholes, MG and zook my guys, then pop down again. Once they have popped down again there are no targets for my guys to shoot at, and infantry and tanks cannot area fire at the foxholes because they cannot "spot" them, even though it's flat terrain and they've just been shot at from them 20 seconds ago. (And don't mention the ditch lock 2m deep ditches ...) When this has gone on for 15 minutes .... the RT tank rider guys' graphic potentially not looking so good doesn't seem that important any more ... :D

Yeah I'm happy to get a PBEM up and running and we can patch as we go along. Hopefully there won't be anything too drastic which needs fixing. Looking ChrisND's twitch TV streams of RT and Elvis and Bill H's AAR nothing was screaming 'fix me now'.

@nathangun I think it'll be out by the end of the month, not sure of an exact date though

Odin I would really love to be your opponent in a video AAR, even if you utterly destroy me. Take me in consideration.
Giovanni

@Giovanni sorry for my slow reply I haven't been on TFGM for a couple of days. Great I'm up for a game. Just so you know I normally play out a scenario PBEM before deciding whether or not to make a video AAR from the results (you do get the odd game where the action turns out to be a little too slow to make an interesting film from and time constraints also limits how many I make). But provided we manage to blow up plenty of stuff in a tactically efficient manner I would be very interested in making a video. I'll email you with a dropbox invite.

Guys, I'm also in on this if you need another opponent. I'll download the day of release and can always ad a game or five to my list. Fast turn rate if that's what you're looking for.

Hi Das, dropbox invite sent. If you've hit tipping point for PBEMs no worries just ignore the invite.

@Odin:

Hey mate, let's start a battle in Red Thunder the day it is released! :) ( I assume that will be this Saturday? Or the March 29th latest).

I will do a video too - and then we can link our AA reports at YouTube. ;)

@Shorker you're on. I'm going to be away for most of Saturday and Sunday this weekend. So if it's released this Friday I might be Sunday evening before I sneak my first round in. If it comes out on Friday I'll try to get a round or two before Saturday.

Looking forward to these PBEMs guys, I think that should give me my fix for the next month or so!

If someone here drops out on you Odin for what-ever reason, I'll take you on in a PBEM game and do a video AAR as well from my side perspective. So keep me in consideration please.

Cheers.
