Im looking forward to the release of this book on 26th September. If you haven't read any of James Holland's books, do check them out. Great history but with a non-academia storytelling angle.

The father of a close friend of mine served there with Canadian forces at time.
Thomas Aaron Bell.

Excellent, will have to watch through today. I can't remember if I started with James Holland's books or podcast with Al Murray, but both have been a fantastic reintroduction to history for me.

In the race up the Liri Valley?

I believe so, although he didn’t talk much of his wartime experiences.

After the war he returned to Canada and qualified as a civil engineer, building bridges.

LOL... you need to listen to the Market Garden Episode of We Have Ways with Dan Snow where they call for me to be knighted... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Is that Knighted, or put to the sword...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Another James Holland fan here (we have ways podcasts), got all his books on Italy so best get the Cassino one ordered too. Fascinating theatre for me.
