Game: CMFI, CMBN
Method: PBEM
Scenario: QB or I would consider a good scenario
Size: Large
Type: Meeting Engagement
Modules: All modules
Date Range: CMFI (9/43) or CMBN (Holland, 9/44)
Status: CLOSED

House Rules:
- No TRP's or planning mortars/arty/air before the first turn.
- No targeting the enemy's deployment zone with off map assets.
- We can randomize environment via dice roles
- We can randomize "what" military branches via dice roles
- We can use a dice role to determine who plays what side
- I would like to play an interesting Map, such as Holland Oosterbeek City Meet 016 or a more hilly/forested Italian map
- Looking for a challenging infantry battle with limited armor, but if opponent chooses more armor, that's fine too..

I was just thinking that an infantry battle without too much armour to worry about would be nice, as I've just picked up Fortress Italy (+all) and slogging up hills with infantry is something interesting I've not had as much of from the Normandy games. I'd incline to play Allies due to familiarity, though if the randomising sides is something you'd like to be firm on then I'm happy to roll with it. All the other conditions look good.

I will say this would be my first PvP Combat Mission game, so as you specify 'challenging' I won't take it personally if you're looking to go up against someone with a bit more experience - I appreciate one can only fit so many games in and would probably appreciate a good fight in them and I might collapse in quite horrific fashion.

My only other question would be relating to rate of play - I'd do my best to do one turn per day, but I doubt I'd be able to keep up every day reliably (though a slower rate would be fine if preferred).

sure.. we can do one a day, sometimes I can certainly do more, but if we can get at least one in a day, that's fair to me.

Let's do CMFI (I've played less of it, so that way, we are both going into this somewhat new).

I've attached a QB map to this thread that I setup -- it's from a campaign that I loved the maps (played it briefly).. really hard hilly terrain with central victory locations, roughly equidistant from the setup locations (Germans are slightly closer and have a better line of approach, but Allies typically have more firepower). Let me know if this works?

The map has five victory locations and should present some interesting problems.

As for the randomness of the sides/environment/ground.. We can use a a website called https://rolldicewithfriends.com/. This will allow me to run some dice rolls for the bellow attributes and you'll see the dice rolls (I can't game it). It makes things fair. Here is the room that I'll use > https://rolldicewithfriends.com/rooms/cmfigamerolls

Side (six side dice):
Even = German
Odd = Allied

Year (six sided dice):
1943 = even
1944 = odd

Branch (six sided dice:
Heer = 1-4
SS = 5
Luftwaffe = 6

Branch (six sided dice):
US Army = 1-3
British = 3-6

We can make this better, but those are some ideas.

Environment (17 attributes):
Clear, Hazy, Thick Haze, Overcast, Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Downpour, Mist, Mist and Rain, Light Fog, Light Fog and Rain, Heavy Fog, Dense Fog, Flurries, Light Snow, Heavy Snow, Blizzard
Since I like some weather to consider, I'll remove some no-weather env variables - so we get to 12 and it's easy to roll a dice.
Hazy, Thick Haze, Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Mist and Rain, Light Fog, Light Fog and Rain, Heavy Fog, Dense Fog, Flurries, Light Snow, Heavy Snow (that's 12)

Ground Conditions (9 attributes) - eight side dice:
Very Dry, Dry, Damp, Wet, Muddy, Patchy Snow, Light Snow, Snow, Deep Snow)
I'll remove very dry and we will have eight to roll for.

Keep Rarity to Standard (unless you'd like to roll for this as well??)

4500 pts for a large meeting engagement. We can hopefully agree on the setup zones for both players, if not, please let me know what changes you'd like drawn, I'm happy to make adjustments.

Thanks and let me know.

Happy to go with those dice rolls, standard rarity, 4500 points and those setup zones.
I threw the map into scenarios to have a look, and that definitely qualifies as interesting. Happy to have a bash at that. I popped it into Quick Battle Maps and it didn't get listed, unless I missed something (apologies if so.)

I will ping you my e-mail now.

No units in the map.. you can choose the map if you select "Meeting engagement" in the QB and then grab the map.. scenario editor works too, you can get an idea on the map..

christ, I forgot to say what side is what for the dice roll.. I'll be even, you'll be odd.. keep it simple.

ok, here are the dice rolls:
d6: 4, 1, 6, 4 d8: 6 d12: 10

You're German Luftwaffe (mix)
1944 (i'll make it early (Feb) so you get the entire range of forces)
I'm British (mix)
Light Snow
Flurries
