Enjoy……
As previously mentioned in dispatches ( see R n R post), we have been on a sortie to seek out Corfe Castle, or rather, what remains of it.
Built by William the Conqueror circa 1066 it has enjoyed quite a spectacular history which is too detailed to brief you with here, but google is your friend if you care to take the time to research it.

After surveying the castle we headed south to Swanage as you will see from the last few photos, and the sharp eyed amongst you may spot a curious wave in the sea that is heading in the wrong direction ( figure that one out).
All in all a good day out only spoiled by an invasion of tourists whilst I was trying to take semi decent photos of Corfe Castle ( they let anyone in these days ).

Was very curious as to what it may have looked like in its prime.

I remember Corfe castle from a family holiday many years ago. I must've been seven or eight years-old. I wonder if my mum has any old photos still?
Great part of the country to visit, thanks for the post!

Yep thanks, fabulous country out there.
Been down through the New Forest to Milford on Sea today for a wander then across to Bournemouth ( too busy there for my liking) and just got back - added a few photos to the Back of Beyond album
