I've mentioned this channel a couple of times before but figured it's worth its own post.
Curious Droid does science & technology videos both modern and historical of about 10 to 20 minutes in length.
The format is well presented with no annoying intros or outros, self-indulgent fluff, and no ads*. It does have occasional sponsorship material as part of the video but these can be easily skipped.
As far as I've seen the information is well researched, although being a general science & tech channel he does miss some things that specialist channels would pick up on.
