Also, if you'd like to try out a mod of Field of Glory II:Ancients covering warfare in Britain during the Viking era of the ninth century AD and only want to play some occasional games but still in a historical setting and context, then Danelaw (LINK) could be something for you. It doesn't involve any commitments other than the one occasional mirror game (i.e., two battles) that you yourself would volunteer to. Or more than one if it turns out you like it and decide to come back for more! But still no running commitments: you decide.
