Just watched a great doco on the battle of the kokoda trail in Papua New Guinea during World War II.

reminded me I had some photos taken of me at the Memorial in Brisbane Australia during a holiday about 2 years ago.

The initial Jap advance was held by militia soldiers from the 39th battalion, a great battle and vicious.

If I am not mistaken the wall is a side view of Papua New Guinea where the Kokoda Trail was.

It was a beautiful memorial, but I was freaking out the whole time I was there. It looked like a perfect spot for snakes and spiders, plus cocatoos were craping every where. :RpS_scared:

Little old New Zealand has none of them.

The New York Times Travel section last week featured hiking tours of the trail...... I guess the good of it is it keeps the memory of those who served in this campaign alive. Im amazed at what little they teach in schools here in the US these days about WW II.
