Doing Russia Right?

Hello All,

I was just reading through the WITW thread and it triggered a side question that I did not want to post there - as that was not the focus of the OP.

Seeing that some experienced gamers have pointed out major flaws in WITE, I was wondering if anyone knew of a game that "Does Russia Right"?

Meaning - that results achieved may somewhat resemble the Barbarossa campaign -> Winter Counter Offensive etc -> onto the eventual Russian steam-roller driving into Berlin.

This seems to be a very hard model to implement - especially in a full European Theater or Global WW II game. That is why I had high hopes for WITE - being so focused, perhaps it could come close ....

Any ideas / opinions on the game that gets it right or comes close?

FYI - my current attempt is with Time of Fury - playing as the USSR from 1939.

There are exploits there that could result in an unrealistic pre-war Soviet state but I am trying to "role play" as much as possible.

An obstacle to that however, is trying to recreate a similar history with the Finns.

In any case, I will attempt to amass a fairly vast army and air force and let the Wermacht beat up my guys when they first invade.

Can the Germans be brought to the Winter 41 state and then counter-attacked by semi-strong / efficient winterized Red Army troops?

We'll see ....
