This is one of the best dressing downs ever administered on celluloid.

Great clip bearcat. Thanks for posting it.

Later in the movie, during a briefing, Peck is doing something like yelling at a bombardier saying what a lousy job he did on his bombing run and how way off target he was.
Peck then yells "Gately" who stands at attention saying "Yes sir" and Peck says "you have a new bombardier."
Gately gets this crest fallen look. He knows he's in for it now.

Here's a quote from imdb.com:
Peck (General Savage) is yelling at a pilot who broke formation to protect a crippled bomber:

General Frank Savage: So for the sake of your roommate you violated group integrity. Every gun on a B-17 is designed to give the group maximum defensive firepower - that's what I mean by group integrity. When you pull a B-17 out of a formation you reduce the defensive power of the group by ten guns. A crippled aeroplane has to be expendable. The one thing which is never expendable is your obligation to this group. This group... this group - that has to be your loyalty; your only reason for being. Gately!
Lt. Col. Ben R. Gately: Yes sir?
General Frank Savage: [referring to Gately's "Leper Colony"] Here's another one for you!

Needless to say, by the end of the movie Gatley is one tough bomber pilot and the "Leper Colony" is one of the best bombers in the group.
In fact at one point Peck tells Gately he's done such a good job that he can change the name of his bomber.
Gately asks, with the generals permission, that he would like to keep the name.
Peck at first looks confused and then realizes Gately is proud of his bomber, the crew, and the name that it bears and with a knowing smirk grants him permission to keep the name.

Twelve O'Clock High is a classic war movie.
It was released in 1949
