We the undersigned Petition the Prime Minister to Ensure that the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is not axed in any defence cuts It has been suggested that the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) - which celebrates the sacrifice of those who flew during the 2nd World War - will be cut in the next round of defence cuts. This will be a travesty if it was to go ahead.

The BBMF is said to cost a mere Ã‚Â£3m a year, less than 0.1% of the defence budget.

i'm one of them spoilsports who always check out petitions thoroughly before I put my name to them, and although I'd like to see the BBMF kept, I can't see why the hell it costs 3 million quid a year to run?
They've got 5 kites on their books (Spit/ Hurri/ Lanc/ Chipmunk/ Dakota), so if they chopped the Chipmunk for a start, that'd save some cash, it's not even a WW2 job anyway.
The Dak could go too, seeing as its an American machine.
That'd leave the BBMF looking much more streamlined and all-British with just the Famous Three- Spit/ Hurri/Lanc.
There, by almost halving their fleet I've just saved them a million quid..

As for the other 2 million, I'd like to see an exact breakdown of where exactly the cash goes so that further cuts can be suggested.
After all, the kites sit in a hangar all week, then are wheeled out and fuelled up to fly in weekend displays, so all they need is a weekly top-up of fuel, a couple of mechanics and volunteer pilots,so I honestly can't see how that would cost more than a few shillings a throw.

It does annoy me, we are happy enough giving money away
for all sorts of thing's immigration building centre's to put them in
and feeding them, instead of just sending back like Australia does
And they wan't to axe part of this countries history...At times
words fail me

No real reason, I was thinking if you haven't got to much to say keeping it all together was a good idea, so for a change here we are with one straight line....LOL
