FRAPS and a Mac

Guys this is a quick call for information.

I know some of us out here are Mac gamers, do any of you use or know of a good program to use like FRAPS? I thought I might look into recording the odd thing/scenario from the games, but have never done it before, so all tips welcome.

And the biggest starting point (naturally) is what to use...

These days I am exclusively Mac based, so goes without saying it has to be software for that platform...

Thanks in anticipation.

@Richtig, hope you don't mind if I pinch any info that comes up in your thread: I'm in exactly the same circumstances, and in the market for the same information ... :)

Not a problem old chap - a problem shared is a problem halved and all that...

I had a corker yesterday in Huzzar, a Stuart in a street, with German recon closing on it. It had despatched a heavy armoured car and a couple of halftracks, when an Sdkfz 250 pulled out in front of it. The German crew were having to negotiate the wreckage in the street, so were almost side on to the Stuart. The Stuart put 5 rounds of 37mm through it for no effect. The germans eventually responded with some 20mm (?) the Stuart then fired again and this time the crew decided to leave. Two chaps were killed bailing, but the third got his leg caught and after several attempts to get out decided to stay in 0 by which time the Stuart fired again killing the brave soul but not the resolutely built sdkfz - in all it took 9 rounds of 37mm before the armoured car succumbed!

I thought that would make a lovely little video...

Hmn Looks like Bandicam is PC based rather than MAC - tho I guess it could be run via Bootcamp or some such...

I did find this however

Which seems to say Quicktime Player will do the job - but as a full screen - anyone any experience of this?

I shall have to try Quicktime: I knew we had it in OS X, but didn't think of it as doing this - "in-game" - job. Good idea!

Would make a good watch!

Sounds like the 250 were close range hits? I've had a similar, "non lethal" short range hit - though not as many, repeated! - which did less damage than you I would have expected. I wondered if the 37mm AP (?) round has no "bursting charge" (i.e. no explosive effect when hitting), and at close range has so much kinetic energy that it just goes straight through and out the other side of a thinly armoured HT skin. And if so, there is a lot of non-vital area to hit, and leave it holed (hit decals!) but operative. It seems like the shell could do more damage at longer ranges, where it penetrates but then ricochets around the insides, and counter-intuitively does more damage than at very close range?

@PhilM Good call - one of the rounds did indeed go straight through and into a 234 (actually that may have been the earlier 251, but same sort of ranges...

I also keep coming across stuff for Screenflick - which seems interesting - like you I will try QT first and maybe we can keep each other posted?

Yep, will defn keep you posted: but just to let you know that I will be away from my computer this coming week, and be back playing turns and in touch from next Saturday, 5 April.

Just my luck that BF will now release RT this week as a result!!

If you are still up for an RT game, and if it should be released this week, if you want to set up a game and drop me a dropbox invite, I'll get to it as soon as I'm back around on Saturday.

With regards to the film editing side of things I can recommend Adobe Premier Elements. It's relatively cheap, straight forward to use, and the software works on both MAC and PC.
