Gave the demo a try. It has an XCOM feel to it but without aliens. It plays well and puts a premium on equipping squads for all contingencies (AT, Sniper, machine gunner, armor etc.
Like most SP games the enemy challenge comes from numbers rather than wily tactics. However they will try pinning and flanking.
Cover is vital and ammunition is limited, so you have to conserve and pick targets carefully. Suppression is often good enough to maneuver and total annihilation of an enemy squad is often a waste of ammo and time.
