Salute, Gentlemen,
I've got an old "bio" here which I'd originally posted up when I was
doing the online flight sim "Aces High" years ago. I'll copy and paste
it in here and update/edit it a bit:
Born at the Chelsea Naval Hospital (Boston), MA. Was schooled in grades 1-8 by
The Sisters of Notre Dame, a sect of nuns I firmly believe are responsible for my
rather bizarre outlook on life. <G> I spent three years At Catholic Memorial High School in
West Roxbury, MA, quitting before graduating. I picked up a G.E.D. down in North Carolina,
while stationed at Camp LeJeune during a four year stint in the United States Marine Corps;
serving honorably from 1972-1976 in the Communication/Electronics field.
Background:
My first computer was an AST Research 386 SX25, with 4MB RAM and a 125MB hard drive.
I purchased SSI's "Great Naval Battles Of The North Atlantic" with it and a love affair with
computers and wargames had begun. A succession of wargames/sims such as QQP's
"Battles of The South Pacific", SSI's "Steel Panthers", HPS' "Tigers On The Prowl" and
SSI's Panzer General" served to reinforce this passion. For years I passed on playing
First Person Shooters...then along came "Half Life" a most awe-inspiring piece of work
as far as shooters go, and damned if it didn't have a STORY LINE as well!
These days, I'm moderately to heavily involved with wargaming with my current favorites being
"Combat Mission Battle For Normandy" by Battlefront.com and "Arma II" by Bohemia
Interactive. It's a sequel to the -real- old "Operation Flashpoint". I'm currently a member
of "The 15th MEU" which is an online realistic wargaming unit which uses Arma II
to simulate a real world environment.

I'm pretty fresh in there, and still refer to myself as an "FNG".
Personal Hobbies/Interests:
Computer wargaming and reading. .Can you say "Bubble Boy"?
Personal favorite books: "Enemy At The Gates" about Stalingrad; The Flashman Series;
The Brotherhood of War series by W.E.B. Griffin, and "The Corps" series by the same fellow.
As well my all time favorite is now "Gates of Fire" a historical based novel which concerns
itself with the epic battle of the Spartans and the Persian hordes at Thermopolae.
I had my "midlife crisis" in 1995 and decided to buy a motorcycle.
First ride was a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650. I had that for two years, then sold it and
bought a brand new 1997 Kawasaki Vulcan 800, a Harley clone. I had the Vulcan for
five years and rode it steadily with a club called "The Leathernecks" for the last 3 of those.
Burned out on the traffic up in the Northeast, I finally sold it in the early Fall of 2002. I am now what motorcyclists refer to as "a cager".
Favorite Quote:
"Come on, you sons of bitches - do you want to live forever?" (Gunnery Sergeant Dan Daly, USMC, Belleau Wood, June 1918)
I look forward to catching up on my reading in here and getting situated.
Stay loose and keep smilin',
Best regards,
Oddball
