H2HH and CMRT

Just a quick question.

I successfully got CMRT configured with H2HH and all was going well - until I noticed my dropbox filling.

It appears the older files were not being deleted. Have I missed something in the set up or is anyone else having the same issues?

Cheers Guys

Interesting - I must be spoiled. My H2H only keeps two files the others are automatically trashed - until CMRT...

Interesting ... like you, for me H2HH had always deleted old files - it is meant to do this, provided that the options "Tidy" and "Tidy dropbox" are ticked. I had been assuming that it was also doing that for RT, but on checking I see that it isn't - but just for RT.

But not consistently: some folders have had files deleted, some haven't. Seems to be a hiccup ...

Glad it isn't just me. Good to know as well cause the old dropbox fills quite quick!

Hi @Richtig, just to take this a bit further: I have had a few posts with GaJ over on the BF Forum on H2HH/CMH ...

I had been holding off moving to CMH because the beta version gave me problems with duplicating both the various CM title installs, and duplicate saved games. GaJ came up with a fix for that (deleting a file and restarting CMH), and for me the substantive v1.1.1 of CMH now works fine.

The point of all of that is that CMH goes back to deleting all but the last two saved games of all titles, now including RT, and keeping Dropbox tidy: so you may want to think about moving to CMH to save the chore of manually deleting the old RT Dropbox files in H2HH?

If you want CMH it is here:

@PhilM

Cheers for the update. I did actually grab CMH the other day when i first found the issue, but like you I have held off using it.

No doubt it will get used at some point - I think it isn't a great hardship deleting the extra files - once you know they will be there, it was more the surprise and hopefully making others aware to check their drop boxes!!

Thanks again matey...

So is H2HH the same as CMH? Or are they both different mods?

H2H helper wasnt working for my OS(Win 7) and as i never got a reply from it's producer,i ve tried to contact him, i ve searched a bit and Canadian Cat(from Blitz) was kind enough to give me a similar programm that he has made called ''whose turn is it''.
It's working really good and i m very satisified with it.

And that is also a different mod then CMH?
Yes but similar in function. To be honest i find ''Whose turn is it'' better as it has IMO a better UI and more depth in features(u can have notes for each game, visible in the Interface of the programm, archive the games, more information concerning each exchanged file and so on.
The producer of this programm told me that currently is working on a Mac version.
If you want i can ask him,i dont think that he ll have a problem, and give you a copy of the programm.

Hi Cargol, I would be interested in Canadian Cat's program as well.

They are both written by GreenAsJade; CMH is newer, and is (AFAIK) meant to supersede H2HH.

CMH does the same job as H2HH (i.e. to manage PBEM files to and from the game folders to dropbox), but presents the results differently for one thing, all games showing in a single window rather that in separate windows as in H2HH. AIUI, CMH is intended to support future developments that H2HH could not.

CMH works fine for me on a Mac, and I wouldn't be without it. But I've never tried it on a PC, nor tried the alternative "Whose turn is it" that the other guys mention, so cannot comment on the differences between them.

I do know that GaJ actively supports and develops his programs (though I guess support for H2HH may taper away as CMH takes its place).

So once I open CMH does it start to work automaticly or do I need to install anything? It does show my current games.

CMH *should* find your installs of Cmx2 titles, and the ongoing games you have for those titles ... you should be able to see them listed in the CMH window?

Each ongoing game will have a small "dropbox" icon against it in the "other info" column - PROVIDED THAT CMH has found the dropbox folder associated with each game ....

If it hasn't found them (helps if the game and folder name are the same, but that's not always so), you need to right click on each ongoing game name and "edit" the game to browse to the correct dropbox folder for it ... each game is associated with a specific folder.

if you are, say, doing a mirrored two-game battle with one person, you can link both games with one dropbox folder, if you both only want to use one dropbox folder; or you can split the two games over two dropbox folders and link each game with a different folder if you want.

How does CMH copy files to dropbox? I can't to get it to work

DG, is CMH showing a list of the games you have going in its main window? (Hope so!)

If it is, you need to "edit" each game, to open up a dialogue box where you can browse to the dropbox folder that is associated with that game, to link it for CMH to the game. CMH will then move the files in and out between the game and dropbox, as you and your opponent play the turns.

You "edit" each game by either right-clicking on it, or using the "game" menu bar item, and choosing "edit".

This help?

I can walk you through it in more detail if you're still not up and running after this ...
