Hi all,

I've just joined.

I'm a long time gamer, having started out with board wargaming in the mid - seventies. I still dabble with that on VASSAL (mostly OCS, although I'm playing the new GMT US Civil War game). Board wargaming brought me via ASL to CM1 and then onto CMx2.

I've got all of the CMx2 games and play them regularly. Currently, I'm rediscovering CMFI and the long slogging match that is the US campaign.

This is quite a fun place with some really committed people (like Bootie and many others) and a couple of that need committing (He's so nuts he was released as he's considered sane now).

How do you find VASSAL? I've looked at it a few times (started through fig gaming then board games etc) but a lack of potential opponents to play it with (+ the much more important fact that I have NO TIME to play most of my games).

Check out the site manual for some very useful info.

Zinzan: I've used VASSAL to (1) play head to head real time (using skype as well) (2) to exchange turns with another player (3) to play solo. For games with a big set up it really shines for solo play.A lot of the game modules come with the virtual counters already set up on the virtual map so you don't have to spend two or three hours setting up.

Thank you, I'm interested as I had a great collection of games in the 80's/90's, most of which I never played (Billy No-Mate's :rolleyes:). I have long since lost the physical games but always regret not playing 2 of them (GDW's 3rd World War & Victory Games Vietnam '65-'75 - Yeah I was a big BIIIIIG game enthusiast :2charge:). I pretty much read the manuals/rules for both and played several solo games of both in those days. Oh well. You've inspired me to re-download Vassal and the 2 modules (for these) I'll do some reading and have a wander round the web to see if I can get a game going.

Good to have you with us! :)

Joining this community was the right decision because Combat Mission is at it's best when played head to head (H2H)
- as you already know. ;)

For to get involved into the PBEM H2H gaming action, please go to the gaming section and choose the category with
the game that you'd like to play (CMBS or CMBN etc.). There you'll find the postings for gaming requests
(just scroll down a little). And there you may also start your own, of course. ;)
