Hello,

Fatehunter from West coast of Canada.

Looking to try human opponents!

Welcome and enjoy, jump right in and have some fun...

Hello Fatehunter, welcome to THE FEW GOOD MEN!

Good to have you with us! ;)

Joining this community was the right decision because Combat Mission is at it's best when played against other humans
- but in our download section you will also find a lot of new scenarios to play against the AI.

Please also have a look at our campaigns (tournament section) - some are based on quick battles, others on scenarios.
There is plenty of stuff to check out and a lot of good people and reliable players to meet! :)

Fatehunter, don't hesitate to ask if you need help with the website etc. - we are all happy to have you here
and everybody will assist you in case of any questions. ;)

But you did not tell that much - what games are you playing for example?

And please feel free to pm (personal message) me, Bootie and Hedgehog if you have an idea of how we could/should maybe
improve our entry to the club for new members. ;)

Thanks everyone,

Heck just ask Shorker or Hedgehog they are our Welcoming Committee (aka receptionist)... We always put the ones with the short skirts and the big boobs at the entrance way....

But seriously you can ask just about anyone anything about the site, or post a question and someone will give you an answer....

Hello,

Thanks for all the replies. These sites always seem so grog friendly that it is intimidating to dig in and figure out what is the situation.

About me: I have CMBN and CMFI. I like them both. Played the AI a bunch of times and find it predictable. Tried the campaigns and find them very hard. They seem set-up to make it hurt! Each scenario in the campaign has a 'trick' that you need to figure out to win. This is not realistic, real tactics are plans and principles that are applied, and when they fail, re-evaluated and re-tried. Like the stupid river crossing in one campaign. If it would not have worked the first time, artillery or something would have been brought it to even the odds.

I have played one game against a human (email) and was slaughtered, but my second I am winning, albeit the scenario was heavily favoring the attacker (me). I have started a FI QB game. That should be interesting.

My questions:
What exactly is the ladder system? Is it only for ranking your wins/losses etc? Or does it do more, such as pitting you against similar ranking players?
How does one get into a tournament? What is a tournament?
What is a domination?

Oh, and my father owned a smatchet. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smatchet)

Thanks

Some Answers:

Ladder current is just a ranking of wins, loses, games played and streaks... if you take a look at the CMx2 Ladder you can get an idea of how the points work...

Tournaments are run by club members - and depending on what the tournament is about there will be threads to sign up etc... Usually once a tournament starts it is closed till the end and a winner is declared..

Domination is something that FGM has had for a while, it is a 'team' based game that players can join, it is fought over a map created by the Curator (a member in charge)... it usually has seperate HQ's (need permission for access) where teamates discuss strategy... Games are usually QB's and are issued via a challange thread... There is rules, etc that are followed...
I would say download the Rules for Domination Sicily or CMBN and look them over... look over the challange threads, etc...

There is also Domination style tournaments, take Rico's Heraklion Campaign, it is tournament and domination mixed...

Again the best thing to do is look around at some of the informative posts (usually these are stickies) so they are easy to find...

Hope this helps
