Greetings to all.
My names Ted and I hail from a small town called Blue Point near the east end of Long Island in New York.

I'm 56 and have been following and playing Combat Mission since before the first Alpha game out.
Before that I've played all things Avalon Hill culminating in the Squad Leader Series.

I've been in and out of clubs including this one and the Band of Brothers (from which I retired awhile ago). Unfortunately, due time constraints and real life I have had to slow my participation in the clubs and in playing the games. But fortunes have reversed and now I am ready to play and eager to join in some CM2 tournaments and campaigns.

I look forward to playing some old compatriots and in meeting new opponents.

It's good to be back!
:)

Hello Ted, welcome to THE FEW GOOD MEN!

Good to have you with us! ;)

Joining this community was the right decision because Combat Mission is at it's best when played against other humans
- but in our download section you will also find a lot of new scenarios to play against the AI.

Please also have a look at our campaigns (tournament section) - some are based on quick battles, others on scenarios.
There is plenty of stuff to check out and a lot of good people and reliable players to meet! :)

Hi there, I saw your avatar on one of the forums. I myself played squad leader back in the day, 1980's. Bought cross of iron first and immediately went out to get the base game. Still have all the modules on a shelf. I haven't played
SL h2h since about 1984. I think my wargaming buddy and me would have had aneurysm's if we had a sneak peek into the future of and played Combat Mission. lol. Just finished my first H2H game and it was great but still miss the old days sitting down to a game of Squad Leader, kicking back with a few beers and enjoying the game. btw I have put together a map on CM Normandy that is a replica of boards 4 and 5 with a few tweaks like a lumberyard in the forest of board 5. Do you know of any scenarios in CM that relate to any SL ones? Andrew

Welcome back!

I know this with the Real Time life:rolleyes:;)

Welcome, I have my SL boardgames up on a bookshelf hardly used. :( I have to say as good as CM is there is nothing like rolling dice and watching your opponents face as you roll snake eyes!

Yeah snake eyes was something else. I'll never forget a situation in the closing turn of a game where somehow a leader in the same hex as an enemy brummbar. It was almost impossible to take out but we both agreed if I got snake eyes followed by a roll of one I would eliminate the brummbar. Lt Hamblen seems to always come to mind when I think about that game.
