.. would it be good for everyone to have a free uni education? Of course!...I have 18K of "debt" from uni..
I never went to Uni, in fact I could hardly wait to get out of school and be free of all that education krap, I didn't need no steenking uni..
All students will get at the end of the day for their 18000 pounds (sweet Jesus!) is a piece of paper.
But as Lord Sugar said on TV- "Degrees and diplomas don't impress me, you might look good on paper, but so do fish and chips. It's
personality that opens doors, and
character that keeps them open".
I've found that to be true because i can play a blinder at job interviews despite having no paper, for example I once applied for a hotel porters job and was so bloody good at the interview that the two partners who ran it offered me the job of fecking manager, I sh*t you not! "We like your confident positive manner" they told me.
But sadly I couldn't take the job because I was moving to Plymouth later that year and only wanted a temp porters job to fill in.
Close call there, I almost ended up as Basil Fawlty..
PS- speaking of Lord Sugar's "The Apprentice" TV show, have you ever seen such a useless bunch of well-educated dummies in your entire life, they've got diplomas and stuff coming out of their ears but they show themselves up on every task because they haven't got the ONLY thing that really matters in life- good old simple
commonsense.
Classic example:- One team leader (Jamie) phoned the boss of a big store to arrange an appointment to make a sales pitch to, and the boss offered him a morning or afternoon appointment, and Jamie chose
afternoon, duh!
But the rival team accepted a
morning appointment and secured a big order from the boss! When Jamies team turned up in the afternoon, the boss told him sorry, the other team beat you to it..
