Looking for opponent

Looking to get a small/medium QB going. Either CMFB or CMBN. Probe purchase, mirror game.

I enjoy tactical matches on maps that allow plenty of room for maneuver and longer time limits that allow for good recon and force setup. Looking for a opponent who enjoys the same. If you are the bum rushing type, that's fine, but not who I am looking to play against.

Standard house rules: No pre-planned arty/air from the defender. No purposeful targeting of attackers setup area, and attacking units will leave their setup zone before engaging.

Also been playing a lot with the German side having to purchase one tank that is not a Panther/Tiger before buying either of those. Would be into an infantry only game too.

Send me a message if you're interested and we can get something going.

Hi
I am new here.
i am definitely interested to play onlinebut I may have less requirements than u described.
What if we pick up a scenario with enough random setups that we cant for sure predict what the other has and play it? I think of a few CMRT scenarios (like Studienka or Angriff for instance)?
or do u prefer a meeting encounter type of game where we create our own forces?
PS: FYI, I play all CM2 WW2 modules. I am also a vet of ASL / VASL games, incl. playing on 3d maps (enlarged twice via photocopy and reliefs made with foam) and GHQ fully painted/seasoned miniatures (tanks and infantry) ;-)

Hey. Thanks for the interest. The only requirement is having the games and adhering to the standard house rules I put forward. With this post I am trying to get a mirror quick battle going. In a QB players pick their own forces, but it does not have to be a meeting engagement. I do not particularly enjoy meeting engagements, which is why I am asking to play a "probe". A mirror game is two games played simultaneously, each player commanding the attacking and defending force, on the same map with the same conditions.

In a probe QB, there is a defender and attacker, like in a standard/classic (whatever that means) combat scenario. Probes are more of a balanced purchase than attacks and assaults are, but the goal is the same....to destroy the opposing force and control objectives on the map. With a "probe" casualties (or lack thereof) count for more final points than they do in "attacks" or "assaults", so players who are more deliberate and careful with their forces are rewarded for that. In quick battles of any type, players purchase their own forces with points allotted, and then place them in positions of their choosing within the setup areas provided by the map.

I also have a post to play the scenario "A Nasty Surprise" from CMFB. I could be open to another scenario, but I do not have CMRT.

thanks for ur reply. CMFB is fine for me of course too.
Are QBs online games or PBEM? How do u select the maps, the setup areas and then the forces? never done it Before

I had a look at a Nasty Surprise. Looks like the german forces are already set up (Idid not look at the details though in case we play it). Now when I look at A New Road to Wiltz again with the Germans, the map is void of any forces. how should it be?

Also, to make communciation quicker between us, we cold use whatsapp (create a group there too?). If u are fine with that, u can always add me at +971504565717

All PBEM games are played online. It's the most common way players in different places play CM games. PBEM can be used for scenarios or quick battles. There are specific maps for QB's that you can view in the "quick battle" section of your CM game. Those maps come with setup zones for the attacker and defender. Players purchase and deploy their forces in the first couple of turns, once that is done the combat part or the game begins. You can read more about it in detail in the manual that comes with the game.

In "A Nasty Surprise" The defensive (German player) has control over initial deployment of almost all their forces. There are a few limitations that have been put in by the scenario designer, but the vast majority forces are meant to be positioned by the player. I am not familiar with any scenario called "A New Road to Wiltz".

I don't use whatsapp. There is a program called CM helper many people use for H2H play, it helps with file management and also has a chat feature for easy communication.

where do i get CM Helper?
i looked at the QB screen, u have to choose ur forces. in Nsty Surprise, looks like the German OB is already determined. So only the US chose their OB?
Also, which mode do u use: turn based / internet, email,...?

about CM helper, i asked where to find it because the download site is blocked by antimalware

See above link for CM helper. If it is blocked, that is an issue with your computer or your anti virus software, I can't help you there.

Yes, in Quick Battles players choose their own forces. A Nasty Surprise is a scenario that has been created by someone, so in all scenarios the OOB has been decided for both German and American forces, but the players get to deploy their forces and come up with their own strategy within the scenario parameters given. I would suggest reading the game manual for further clarification between scenarios and quick battles.

I use PBEM, as most people do, for H2H play. PBEM is an online, turn based system for two players to play CM games together. It is also detailed further in the game manual.

thanks now i have installed CM Helper. it was blocked because of PUP malware in the site
PBEM: u mean this?: "Play by Email works exactly like Single-Player Turn-based play, except that once a player completes their commands and actions, a special save game file is generated. The player emails this file to their opponent who loads it on their end, executes their commands, watches the results of the previous turn, then saves a file and returns it to the first player."

Yes. PBEM is how myself, and all other players I know of play H2H games. Although instead of an email exchange, a Dropbox account and an associated folder are used between players these days. It's easier and works well with CM helper.

great. have u tried the real online turn based game (LAN/Internet option?
for PBEM, wld u like to start a game?

I just use the PBEM feature. What type of game are you interested in? We can start a private message to get everything set up.

i am ok with any type. probe is fine. i will let u lead this for this time so we dont waste time

Okay. A probe quick battle it is. I will send you a PM and find a nice QB map for a small purchase game in CMFB.

You should also create a dropbox account, using the email you have in your profile, if you haven't already.

I have selected a folder as dropbox in the CMHelper settings. Is that it?
