Hello

If you need an opponent for PBEM WEGO pls let me know. I am up for several.
I'm good for at least a turn a day.

Any scenario should be fine, but I prefer well designed historical/semi historical scenarios on nice looking maps, as long as we are double blind.

I have all the modules for the WW2 CMx2 series.

Cheers

Bull

If you need a opponent I am here.
My prefs: level iron, 3/4 turns for week, h2hh and dropbox.

Ciao,

Hi ariete

OK, lets look for a scenario that looks good. If you have a scenario in mind we can do that. I will in the mean time look for one and let you know.

I don't mind playing in Iron mode in WEGO but I think I just normally play in Elite. I just want to clarify exactly how Iron mode influences the game because I thought it was more of an interface nuisance/challenge more relevant for RTS gameplay than something that actually affects the actual mechanics in the game. I've always thought the description in the manual of it was ambiguous and could have been worded and explained better. Here is what it says:

--------------
Iron
Iron is an optional setting that goes even one step further than Elite, and introduces special restrictions on what the player can do and when. While even more realistic than the other settings, this option introduces a number of interface limitations
which might put off the casual player, so it is strictly an optional choice.

- Friendly units need to be spotted just like enemy units. If you have a friendly unit not in line of sight or in contact with another friendly unit, then the only way to find this unit is by either re-establishing contact with another friendly unit or by clicking through the chain of command in the game interface, jumping from unit to unit.
-----------------

1. Why as a WEGO player would I want any of the player restrictions they discuss? How is this even relevant to making WEGO gameplay any more fun, realistic or even challenging? It's just an unnecessary inconvenience.

2. In WEGO this is simply not true. If I click on a empty area of the map, with icons on ALL of my units will all be visible to me, whether they are in LOS/contact with other units or not.

I have tested the difference between the two modes in WEGO and it just seems that in Iron mode it appears harder to maintain C2 between HQ and it's subordinates. if this is true, why doesn't the description the manual just say that?

I'm ready for a game.

I have the same preferences about semi-historical scenarios.

I'm waiting for a proposal.

cheers

I have choosen a scenario from MG module ----> MG Boy's against men.Choose a side and then we can start or if you have another proposal we can discuss which play for the first time.
I have played in Iron mode from the beginning and then I have noticed that the game mechanics are not so different from Elite mode.Perhaps Battlefront could explain better in their forum these discrepancies.

Ciao,

@Bullman - I am looking for (1) game right now, turn a day is doable if not more... Have All CMx2 Products up to date, use H2HH and Dropbox... Let me know... I also prefer semi-historic type scenarios over QB's

In Iron mode it is my understanding that your units cannot see 'your own units' if no LOS... also communique and command is a bit tougher... At least that is what I have been told...

Hi arieste,

I have selected the Brits and have sent you a Dropbox invite. GL!

Hi panzerbob and Fredrocker

I went to The Blitz website that has good stats and info on scenarios and tried to find ones that seemed balanced enough and highly rated. I found these:

CW My Honor is Loyalty (its apparently a very big map/scenario, SS vs Brits west of Caen, Brits attacking)

MG Green Hell (bocage terrain, US vs Falshirmjäger)

Carbide, Carbide (bocage, US attack vs Wehrmacht) - I previewed this map as Allied, looks good, so I guess I should play as the Allies.

First in on the scenario and the side.

Happy to play more than one game against you guys as well, perhaps one you would think would be good.

PS: Apart from Carbide Carbide, I have not actually previewed the map in any of these battles and am taking it on good faith from the reviews and comments I have read that they are well designed. The main reason why I haven't previewed the map is because it is such a pain to do it and not having already decided on which side to take, you risk "cheating" by unwittingly previewing something about the setup/deployment of the side you may go up against.

As I have already mentioned, I think that the design of the map is a key deciding factor on whether I would find the scenario interesting to play. I think a significant proportion of you may feel the same way. It really would be great if, within the scenario selection menu, there was a simple option to just "Preview Map", of course without any units or deployment zones shown.

I have suggested this before at BFC forums but, just like may things, it all just doesn't seem to matter.

Just curious, what do you guys normally do as far as previewing a map from a scenario before you start playing it without spoiling any FOW elements to it?

Load up the scenario in the editor and choose map and then 3d preview. Impossible for you to reveal any troops or their placements unless you go clicking on the various options for them. So it is easy to see the maps and still keep the integrity of the scenario an unknown.

Sure, I can do this, but it is such a clumsy, inconvenient and needlessly fiddly way to do it. All I can do is browse a listing of scenarios by file name alone, devoid of all the other information that is needed to make an assessment on a scenario.

Is it really that difficult for BFC to imagine presenting to the player a screen like this:

Just code a macro that executes exactly what the scenario editor does.

There's a cool browser file available that lists all the CMBN scenarios with a description of the battle and it's size. I'm at work now posting on my phone so remind me to post a link later when I'm in front of my PC ;)

Here's a link to the browser file I was talking about. I recommend it.
