Outside of the turns mentioned above, I'm *really* frustrated at continually losing the spotting battle. Other than those turns, I don't think there's been a single instance where I've been able to spot and fire first in our localized confrontations. I'm being shot through woods when I can't see through woods, I'm being shot when stationary and pointing directly at an area and the enemy has to move straight up to my position. I get shot when I'm not moving in the woods. I ALWAYS get shot when moving in the woods. There are vehicle-to-vehicle differences in spotting, I know, but at the ranges and situations I wouldn't think it would matter and since we all have Soviet kit, I would think it should suck for both me and my opponent.
I'm certain there is a skill issue on my part here, but I just can't seem to figure it out. General suggestions?
Don’t sweat it too much, your side is well outnumbered. But that last turn my BMP moving up from that middle 200 pt Obj, yeah my guy got very lucky. I moved him head-on into yours, he killed him, then changed directions, killed your other one, and then reversed out of harms way! It was perfect! Just wish those were my orders and not the TacAI. A very rare occasion the AI taking over with very good results. I just gave him a short Move order, not really sure why the AI took over. I’m not complaining!
Having said that, there is hard coded behavior that does minimize the negative impact of being the moving target. So that being the stationary target vs a moving target only gives a marginal advantage. Obviously this is slightly less realistic but is designed to help out the attacker.
Those stationary keyholed BMPs arent too hard to overcome. I skip the spotting duel and just area fire the tile the vehicle is sitting on or just past it. Only possible for non hull downs. Usually use at least 2-3 AFVs for this. That’s how I’ve been dealing with your keyholed spots. Tanks are trickier, but at the very least they reverse out of there. Tanks can kill other tanks by area fire, depends on ammo type and angle.
Overall spotting duels your guys were outnumbered by at least 2 or 3 to your 1. Not much you can do, mathematics take over. But this hasn’t been easy to do as the attacker. I’ve been pretty slow and cautious to ensure this. You’ve done a good job slowing me dowe. Running out of time now!
LOS can see deep into the heavy woods. Agreed, looks here can be deceiving. Also having numbers helps with this. I just need one guy to spot or hear something and then the next turn I can unleash hell on that tile. Or the tile your moving into.
Screwed up my arty, only used half of it! Soviets are so slow!
