There is another Battletech game in the 'Closed Beta' stage of development, it is called 'MechWarrior Tactics'. Unlike MechWarrior Online, this is not an FPS game. It is actually a WEGO version of the game, where you command multiple Mechs (Lances). A turn consists of you plotting your fire, then your movement, and the computer then executes your orders, much like Combat Mission. You can play versus the AI or against other players Online. There is no PBEM capability, though a game in progress will go on hold until your opponent submits their turn orders. This allows for games to be continued at a later date should the occasion require it.
Since I am part of the Closed Beta I cannot disclose more than my participation, except that I'm having a ton of fun with it. I have attached a link to the site which will give a view of what it looks like.

i played ist mechwarrior way back..i still run mw 4 merc on win7.
with joystick and good control set my mech is ace. 2 m/las and a missle pack. base
i go ist for max torso leg arm .

have never played online tho.
that would be cool

z you tube of my mech can be had.. but you gotta ask
