In 1928, Mexican designer Rafael Mendoza began to develop a A light machine gun similar to the M1918, this machine gun was adopted by the Mexican military in 1933 and officially entered service the following year. It was the Mendoza C-1934 (Mendoza C-1934) produced by Productos Mendoza.

Although the Mendoza C-1934 is a new weapon, the development ideas are indeed influenced by the American M1918. The butt and the handguard are made of one-piece wood, with a pistol-style grip. The gun adopts the principle of gas-guided automatic. The gas tube is under the barrel. The barrel has a quick-change function, and there is a cooling ring. A flared flash suppressor is installed at the mouth, and there is a pair of bipods folded forward in front of the handguard.

The gun fires 7×57 mm Mauser bullets. It uses a curved magazine with a capacity of 20 rounds. The front sight and rear sight are installed directly above the gun. In order not to hinder the aiming, the magazine socket is moved to the right, so the gun is not suitable for left-handed operation.

The machine gun has a total weight of 8.4 kg and a length of 1170 mm, of which the barrel is 670 mm long. The adjuster on the left side of the gun body can choose full-automatic, single-shot and safety modes. The machine gun has a special tripod, which can be used for ground combat or air combat.
