On June 30, 1941 Luftwaffe pilot Oberstleutnant Werner Mölders shoots down three Soviet bombers, for 82 victories, breaking the WWI record set by the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen.
Incredibly Mölders died in a plane crash at age 28 (Nov 22, 1941) on his way to Ernst Udet's funeral that he had committed suicide. Mölders was buried next to Udet and Richthofen at the Invalidenfriedhof in Berlin.
