Movers and Shakers

This is just a thought, and I feel sure you guys will have considered it and probably written about it already, just I haven't seen it.

With a lifetime of gaming behind me, I often feel game designers don't always get what exactly makes their games successful. You can also argue equally that what makes a game 'your cup of tea' varies from player to player. As a young board gamer my friends and I constantly sought realism, and it took us a long time to realise that a good game balances realism with playability.

So the point of this conversation is that you guys represent a good chunk of the games (in this case CM2) market, so do you have a voice with the developers/designers - I would think they would welcome what marketing people might call focus group feedback.

The reason I mention this is i have been reading a few tactical manuals again, tho you only need see contemporary WW2 images to see pictures of infantry on tanks - so why can't infantry ride on tanks in the game? If they ever create the east front game/module (surely only a matter of time) it has to be a feature.

I wonder if initially it is seen as a combat game, so at this stage infantry would be dismounted - but some of the most enjoyable scenarios (personal bias showing) are where the forces are smaller, and the area larger so you seek your enemy, to fix and destroy. This style of games give worth to those M5 and armed halftracks that in a standup fight simply seem to get in the way...

Would love to hear what people think, I feel sure we could create a reasoned 'wish list' for the designers, and who knows tweak the game we love to be even better.

Tank Riders are a "must" - I fully agree with you here. And regarding the halftracks, M5 etc. - I would like to suggest you play on a large map with a medium army (and a reasonable time limit) -> then jeeps and other vehicles become very important.:)

Like Shorker says once you play a massive game on a huge map then trandsports are very valuable.
And I would like to see tank riders also.

Halftracks are like coffins with tracks lol.

WARNING! VIOLENT VIDEO:

Troops in any situation on tanks doesn't seem like such a good idea. Even if this example is hollywood, it's still an example of the dangerous situation troops would be placed in. Tank riders might be one of the most unprotected spots on the battlefield.

It was dangerous indeed but in that time a good way of transporting infantry across the theatre of operations.
