The start shows a gang of black kids assaulting and robbing a 39ish white woman. These kids are the movie's "heroes". The oldest is 15.
After a while as the muggers have been fighting the aliens we are supposed to come around as to how they "feel". We are expected to realize that inside they are actually good,
cheer their camaraderie, bravery and all that criminal behavior was just kids being kids.
Nupe. The good news is that while I hopelessly rooted for the aliens who were pretty cool, but incredibly stupid, they did manage to reduce the criminal numbers by several bodies.
As the movie concludes the 15 year old hears his name being chanted and a smirk crosses his face. I guess he knew he'd be released from police custody soon and could get back to the
business of robbery in short order.
Clearly the makers of this...thing...never really intended it for viewers over 15. There also a couple of kids that are 9 and from what I can tell added for comedy and to encourage viewership
for an even younger level. This film is rated "R".
