[MOVIE] Deepwater Horizon

I saw it, very well done. Overall excellent movie. even bought the DVD.

After I saw it, I checked out the real story and it turns out many of the events portrayed actually happened.

This article explains a lot of the details which are skimmed over in the film:

What I found most striking was the power of mother nature. We may think we have conquered the elements, but none of our "toys" can withstand the forces of mother earth once they are unleashed.

p.s. - John Malkovich gets the award for worst "Cajun" accent ever portrayed on film. :)

You guys liked this? Really. Why? Other than educating me just a little on what happened (on which I could have saved my money and just hit Wiki) I thought it was dreadful.
Spoiler alert! Hero leaves family to go work on rig. Rig blows up...for about 45 minutes. People jump in water and get rescued. Movie ends.
Probably just me I suppose. :(

Again probably a personal thing... living in Aberdeen we have a huge Shell community, a large amount of the workforce work in oil offshore and we have so many families affected by the Piper Alpha disaster from the area. As an outsider looking in it interested me.
