Multiplayer campaign design discussion

I think we're inadvertently taking over the Rico War thread so I've started a new one to discuss multiplayer campaign design. Just taking up where @Strachwitz left things:

Regarding the casualty count at the moment I'm thinking the most straight forward thing to do would be to work out the average casualty rate and just deduct that percentage off the overall troop count in the scenario editor (eg lower the headcount by 40% for the units which just participated in a battle if 80 men out of their original 200 were killed or wounded during a battle). If certain units were completely wiped out then they would just be cut from the roster.

It's a shame about CM Recorder, it sounds like it would have been an excellent tool for taking out some of the admin. Thinking about implementing an exit zone, maybe it would be more straight forward just to give a player the option to hit the surrender button, in return they would be hit with a 5-10% casualty penalty to be added to their existing casuatlies, but they would be allowed to keep the rest of the surviving troops to fight future battles. Whist I'd love to add exit zones, I'm not sure it the game's after action report would take units which have exited into account when totting up the final score, but let me know if this is not the case.

in CM:Afghanistan I remember some scenarios where you had to exit your troops and I believe they counted as survivors in the AAR. I haven't met exit zones in CM:BN yet, but I bet it works the same way. But we could easily test it if you made a test scenario with only a couple of troops and they exited right after start.
