Evening all.
Keen FGMers will notice I a 'staff banner' appeared under my avatar a couple of weeks ago. Bootie has hand balled the scenario design workshop and the scenario review section of the forums over to me to both improve and maintain. After a few emails back and forth the changes are starting to appear. The first change is the merging of these two areas together to improve traffic and encourage all FGM custom made work to get some quality feedback. The second big change is the introduction of a Research Encyclopedia where we really want the FGM community to start adding good scenario design research material so it's all collected in one place - a forum database if you will.
You can access the new structure from the 'Scenario Workshop' tab at the top of the webpage.
The final aim? It’s designed to be a one stop shop for Combat Mission Scenario Designers/Cartographers of all skill levels. So if you are young greenhorn dipping their toes into the water for the first time or a grizzled ancient who whips up mapping master pieces, knows every flavor object number off by heart, then hopefully there’ll be something here for you.
There are three main areas with the new look;
- Combat Mission World War 2 Era Scenario Design (CMBN, CMFI, CMRT)
o Map and Scenario Design
o Scenario Testing
o Release and Review
- Combat Mission Modern Era Scenario Design(CMSF, CMA, “Black Seaâ€)
o Map and Scenario Design
o Scenario Testing
o Release and Review (CMSF, CMA, “Black Seaâ€)
- Combat Mission Scenario Research Encyclopaedia
We’ll be using title tags to help organize the posts, please see the relevant instructional posts in each section.
The ‘Research Encyclopedia’ forum is a new idea to create a community collection point for good sources of material you find scrolling through Google search results. Have you got a good source with lots of topographical maps? Or maybe a website with detailed order of battle or unit history? If you find something interesting then post it to this forum for others to check out. Over time hopefully this will become a bit of a defacto database for Combat Mission scenario research. This is also the place for you to ask others for help finding information as you create a scenario.
Go have a look and have read through the stickied posts to get started.
Cheers guys.
