That's funny. Overhere there are people too who think the lost tribes of Israel have settled in North Western Europe ! For instance in Danmark lives the tribe of Dan. In the Netherlands the tribes of Zebulon and Issakar settled and so on.

BTW, weird to think the USA are the lost tribes. The people who settled there are from al over the world and form very different nations, peoples etc...

OK, here's a hint: In his military career he played a key role in the actions of 6 June, 1944.
 
A wild guess: is it brigadier-general Theodore Roosevelt jr. who was assitant commander of the 4th infantry division that landed on Utah beach and was the son of former president Theodore Roosevelt ? He was the first general to land on the 6th of June on Normandy.

A good guess, but no. This officer survived the war. Another hint, in his life after the military he had a very successful career in education.
