Is it just me or does his propellor seem a little small?!
Lord Bane

its a RC type model, with a real engine, and yes it does look a bit small, but it could be the angle of the photo..

Unfortunately the engines and propellors are the things that aren't (can't be ?) modelled correctly with these kind of models. They usually only have a twobladed prop and a small, whining engine. Would be difficult to model a real Merlin engine of course. All those cylinders but in scale of the model. And even better if it had the same noise.... Heard a real Spitfire once. It made some passes over the town I live in during a remembrace day parade. WOW, what a beautiful noise !

Allison engines, those ones....US designs.

I dunno why but I've never been interested in the RC flying models and you may have put your finger on it. The noise just leaves me cold and removes any sense of history.

At Ardmore airfield not far from my house in South Auckland, we have both a P40 and a Mustang, and had the pleasure of watching them both at an airshow for the RNZAF 100 yr anniversary. The P40 looked and sounded great...until the Mustang came on. Carthorse vs stallion.
