Do you want to end that dastardly losing streak???

Do you need to prove to your comrades that those technology-reliant NATO dogs can be defeated by rat-cunning, clever tactics, and impressive use of artillery?

Feel like helping me pop my cherry??

If YES to any of the above, I am keen for a game. :) (well actually, I prefer not to be solely a punching bag for a steamroller blitz..)

My intro thread should give sufficient back story. Obviously in the Australian timezone, and I reckon I'll aim at delivering 1 turn every 2 days minimum, not that I have any idea of the realities of such things (and the new bub has the right of veto over my free time... Or is that actually his mum who holds those rights??? :kilroy:). Though getting the first turn started I'm sure will take somewhat longer (buying and positioning the units is slow but very satisfying)....

Interested in a Tiny QB on a slightly larger map (my brain can only handle Company-sized TOE atm). And I'd prefer no manned air assets (though I don't think the purchase points available in a tiny QB are sufficient for them anyways!). Happy to for an opponent to select the map and QB type as well (or have I just dug myself a hole??).

Have dropbox and CMHelper, though will likely take a few fumbles to work it all out. So you will need patience!

Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to the game too. You can set up the map/game. I'll pm you my email if you're interested :)

If you have room for another game I would be interested.
Not much experience with BS and its toys yet. :)

Because I fear this may be the (only?) highlight (success?) in my match as UKR mech defending against Mr_C's Russian mech probe, I thought I'd share this (inspired by Bils(?) animated GIFS in his AARs over at the BF forums):

"Dimitiri, are you sure this is a good spot to cover the left flank? We don't seem very protected here..."

"Da!! You cover the right, and I'll look after the left. Wait, what was that explosion? Where the hell? 2, ROTATE RIGHT!! RO---"

"Dimitri, say again? Oh f$#%, where did that---
-"

So Gnarly's lessons learnt thus far from (the early stages of?) his first two PBEM's ever (against @Mr_Centipede & @Artemis258 ):

1/. Wet ground sux balls.. I've lost more critical units to boggy ground than anything Artemis 's pesky Rusky arty has accomplished.... My new mantra: Tracks good, wheels bad!

2/. Arty is tough to use in flat, heavily wooded country. And doubly so if UKR (and probably Rusky too?); so few units can call it, and the response times are soooo slow. Put your spotters with viable LOS and they'll get obliterated by recon by fire; put em somewhere safe, and they can't see squat....

And UKR scouts can't call arty! DOH!

I think I need to try using TRPs, which I've never used at all. Artemis's two Russian barrages were very well timed and placed (against my US forces), so I am guessing he had pre-planned fire on TRPs, that he has then adjusted during the mission??? Or something?

3/. Fortifications are so easily spotted but that can be put to good use (my UKR defense)..... :kilroy:

4/. I hate when a unit has LOS during setup, but then as soon as game starts, that LOS is lost, and no matter what you do, cannot be regained. GAH!!! Especially a for a unit with a 2 minute deploy time...

5./ Just because a vehicle does not have LOS to a location, does NOT mean that location cannot see the vehicle!!! That lesson cost me a Tunguska.... :panzer: With a full compliment of ammo still onboard....

I had that LOS issue in a RT game yesterday. Scenario game where I had two gorgeous shiny FLak 88's ready to punch a hole in anything within 2km. 1). I didn't do a good enough low level survey of the ground and thus missed a dead spot that my enemy snuck some tanks through, 2) when the tanks appeared in a forrest over 1km away, my 'hq' could spot them but my guns couldn't! The t-34's on the other hand had no spotting issues at all (even though my guns were likewise well hidden) and pewpewpew my primary AT asset gone.

Though a stug did get s 2fer1 on the road. T-70's are thin :p

Ah... my most humiliating blunder. I really thought that sector was clear. As you've seen the way my bmps were facing, I was the enemy is on that hill in the background. Never thought the enemy was very close...
