Yeah even in a council house in a wee town outside Belfast my father used to grow potatoes, rhubarb, betroot, spring onion and peas!

Japan is like that in its urban sprawl. Wherever there is a vacant house block, someone is growing vegetables on it.

I still have a garden every year and grow herbs inside all year round. I also raise a hog a year and a beefer every two. Hunting and fishing also puts food in the freezer.

Nice knowing where your food comes from and what goes into it.
